Project Type
Velux only conversion, refurbishment of stairwell,
master bedroom, drawing room, family bathroom.
Project Description
We first visited Mr and Mrs Flattery in 2005/06.
We were asked to price three conversions to include a dormer to
the north side of the property, at the time this conversion needed
planning permission approval for the work to commence. Once approval
was granted approximately 12 weeks later, Mr Flattery once then
asked if we could book them in for a start date in March 2008. During
the break between finishing the drawings and the start date we met
on a number of occasions to clarify the internal specification.
We commenced work in March 2008, by this time
we had built up a good friendship / relationship with Mr and Mrs
Flattery, and we were given free rein to build their conversion
to the high specification they required.
Architecture and Interiors are of great interest
to the team so we was in our element being able to source quality
products to make this project not just another Velux only conversion.
One of the biggest elements to a conversion are the light and air,
so for this we specified five windows by The
Rooflight Company called the Neo®, (specification - electric
remote opening, electric remote blinds and full oak surrounds) which
at the time had never been installed on any other property so were
a prototype . . .
As well as this we installed a ridge glaze window
over the stairs to light the stairwell, Mr Flattery specified from
day 1 for us to make sure we fitted a round oak window to each gable,
we had these made through a mutual friend, Gerard at G3Joinery.
As the project commenced and we had finished the structural work,
the team and Mrs Flattery worked on the finishing touches, including
fired earth tiles, granite, corian and Hansgrohe Citterio bathroom
fittings.
Once the loft was completed Mr and Mrs Flattery
approached us to see if it would be possible to refurbish the hallway,
master bedroom, en suite, drawing room and main bathroom.
As current customers we were more than happy to
source materials and finish the other rooms for them and lucky enough
to work on such a high quality project.
